I am not really sure how we started talking about it but a trip to Pando was planned while at the bar last Friday. I had only been one other time (last March with Institutional Marketing) but had lots of fun then and this time was no different. Nikki had a bunch of people going (since I couldn’t seem to convince anyone) but most of them bailed on the day of the trip. The same thing happened with the tubing (like floating on water) trip this summer but like that event, the people that actually went had a BLAST!

Last Saturday brought Amanda and I (the rest of the group bailed couldn’t go) to the Cowboy Up in Mendon, MI. This is the first time that I have been at CBU on a Saturday and most definitely loved it. I heard that the bar put around 550 people through the door which is pretty ridiculous. Brian Lorente and the Usual Suspects rocked on stage, the dancers were rockin’ on the dance floor and the overall atmosphere was great. For a cover of “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks, Brian took a seat on the stage and was surrounded by quite a few patrons of the bar for a sing along.

I went over to Cort/Ash’s apartment for the first time for dinner last night. Cort made some delicious taco salad (minus lettuce of Ash) and garlic bread for us to eat. The visit was shorter than I would have liked but had to cruise back to the studio for a maternity shoot. Always a good time with good friends even if it was a bit more rushed than I would have liked. Maybe next time I can stay longer…

I used to frequent Main St. Pub in Allendale on quite a few occasions but one of the traditional nights was Tuesdays for karaoke. Eric, sing. what?!? No, I don’t sing but enjoyed the company of friends that gave it a go on the mic every week. I don’t think I have stopped in since late September but Nikki and I dropped by last night for a couple drinks and some good laughs with some old friends.

Some great people (Sasha Wolff, Adam Bird and Innereactive Media) from West Michigan pooled efforts together to bring an event to Grand Rapids that was really amazing. The idea started soon after the earthquake on January 12th by some photographers down in North Carolina. It’s a simple idea to make some extra money for people that need it in Haiti by some people that did’t have a bunch of extra cash around but had the ability to produce something that people want. Sasha Wolff brought the project to West Michigan, Adam helped with the studio space along with photographic skill/knowledge and Innereactive Media brought in some marketing for the event. I hung out just to help out with random stuff that needed to be done along the way. We all had a great time and everyone that came by seemed to be very happy with the experience.
