We have had some great weather this winter compared to year’s past with lots of bright blue skies. Here is a quick photo of the McKay Tower in downtown Grand Rapids against that pretty blue. I snapped this on the walk back to work after lunch with Erica on February 8th, 2010.

This weekend was an event that I had been looking forward to for a couple weeks now. Some great people (Sasha Wolff, Adam Bird and Innereactive Media) from West Michigan pooled efforts together to bring an event to Grand Rapids that was really amazing. The idea started soon after the earthquake on January 12th by some photographers down in North Carolina. It’s a simple idea to make some extra money for people that need it in Haiti by some people that did’t have a bunch of extra cash around but had the ability to produce something that people want. Sasha Wolff brought the project to West Michigan, Adam helped with the studio space along with photographic skill/knowledge and Innereactive Media brought in some marketing for the event. I hung out just to help out with random stuff that needed to be done along the way. We all had a great time and everyone that came by seemed to be very happy with the experience.

Yesterday was the next installment in the Rob Bliss Urban Experiment series — Chalk Flood 2009. At first, this event sounded kind of weird and I was skeptical but it was AWESOME! The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was fun, and everyone could be an artist (of sorts). I am not really a drawing kind of an artist but I contributed to the art display that started at Rosa Parks Circle and made its way all throughout the sidewalks of downtown Grand Rapids. I had some stuff going on earlier in the day and didn’t make it to downtown until around 4:30 to meet @danielslaughter for a mini-photowalk. We saw drawings from Rosa Parks Circle all the way up Monroe Center to Division, all over in front of Van Andel, and on the blue pedestrian bridge headed towards GVSU. Definitely glad that I was able to make it even if I just caught the tail end of the event. Dan said that it was much busier earlier in the day but it was quite fun to see the art that was left. Check out my photos and here are @danielslaughter’s on Flickr.

Update: There is also a Flickr group dedicated to the event.

Update2: Here are @yoha_ahoy’s photos as well. She met us down there but I had to jet about 5 minutes after she got there.

It’s a foggy morning in the neighborhood around here. I stopped to take some photos but quickly moved on after realizing that I didn’t have the patience to take photos.

We woke up late, left the house late, had to drop Falon off at the hospital so she wouldn’t be late, was going to walk from Blodgett but soon noticed that Falon forgot to take her keys, tried to park at Eberhard to find the lot full, had to wait to park in DeVos because a contractor was talking his way into the parking lot with no pass and then finally got to work like 20 minutes after I wanted to. This morning isn’t going so well…

Good thing I aimed for 7am instead of 8 am eh?
